Dr. Sun shared her career path experience on Highlighting Women in Aerospace panel at AIAA SciTech 2025. Melissa also gave an excellent presentation on adaptive control of jet flow studies using online DMD method.

AFOSR 2024 YIP Award! The group receives AFOSR funding through Dr. Sun’s AFOSR 2024 Young Investigator Award on a project investigating nonlinear modal interactions in complex unsteady aerodynamic flows.

Congrats! Mitesh Thakor’s new publication with PRF. The work focuses on exploring input-output dynamics of a supersonic shear layer flow, which is a ubiquitous flow phenomenon in many engineering applications of high-speed flows.

Rashid presents at AVIATION 2024 in Las Vegas. Md Rashidul Islam gives an excellent talk on the topic of harmonic resolvent analysis applied to laminar separation bubble. We are so excited to exploit the use of this method in understanding unsteady fluid flow behaviors! The work is supported by AFOSR YIP Program.

STEM Trekker Summer Program - Aerodynamics Day 2024 collaborated with TACNY is of great success. All the Sun’s Fluid Dynamics group members-Mitesh Thakor, Md Rashid, Islam, Melissa Yeung, Katie Smith, Brendan Marquis, and Thalia Lee-have excellently led the activities and interact with 6-9th grade students through the one-day event. We showcase various fluid flows simulated by computers and visualized through virtual reality.

Melissa Yeung and Matthew Qualters collaboratively present experimental and computational multistream supersonic jet flow control work sponsored by AFOSR. Nice talk and nice banquet!

Mitesh Thakor, Md Rashidul Islam, and Melissa Yeung give talks on their research at Thousand Islands Fluid Dynamics Meeting (TIM) in Glen House Resort in Gananoque Canada in May 2024. The meeting is enjoyable, and we have a nice representation of Syracuse University regarding the fluids groups from Dr. Fernando Zigunov, Dr. Mark Glauser and Dr. Yiyang Sun.
